As the end of summer draws near, many people are eagerly awaiting the upcoming fall prime-time lineup from their preferred networks. Nonetheless, a considerable portion of these lineups is comprised of unscripted reality shows and game shows. This implies that your much-anticipated fall debut might not be included. Some exceptions exist for productions that concluded before both the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) actions took place.
Due to this many of the shows many of us might look forward to are nowhere to be found in the lineup. So for those who aren’t reality TV fans buckle up because we may be stuck with these shows for a while. Sadly, even if the strikes were to end today it would still take a while to have enough content to fill the lineup.
This strike also affects streaming platforms. If the strike continues, studios will eventually run out of new scripted content to release. This may cause streaming platforms to delay the releases of shows. The most unfavorable outcome we might encounter is the total cancellation of our beloved shows. Although I remain optimistic, the long-term repercussions of the dual strike are unpredictable. I am concerned that a substantial number of our favorite shows spanning various platforms could be at risk.
Since streaming services have productions from around the world the effects on streaming may not be seen for longer if the strike continues. Could we be in for a long haul of game shows and reality shows? How much content do you think streaming services have left to release?
