Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’: A Rollercoaster of Surprises, Disappointments, and Endless Anticipation

Taylor Swift announced her “Eras Tour” shortly after her tenth studio album, “Midnights” was released. The tour announcement excited fans around the world. However, this euphoria quickly gave way to disappointment for countless fans who found themselves locked out of the ticket sale process, despite having verified fan codes. To add to the frustration, some fans were unceremoniously booted from the ticket checkout page before completing their purchases. This created “Bad Blood” between Swift and Ticket Master as the Swift team asked if they would be able to handle the large demand and were assured they would be able to, only to be let down.

Many Swifties even sued Ticket Master’s parent company Live Nation Entertainment. Many Swift fans referred to the ticket disaster as “The Great War”.  Another issue associated with ticket purchases involved resellers who, through sheer luck, managed to secure tickets only to hawk them at exorbitant prices, with some tickets fetching sums as outrageous as $21,600 and beyond.  Unfortunately, it was a “Cruel Summer” for those hoping to attend the concert, and many found themselves dreaming of more reasonable prices that aligned with their budgetary constraints.  I wouldn’t pay that price even in my “Wildest Dreams”.

When the tour was first announced there were only a few dates that ranged from March 2023- August 2023. Since then more US dates have been added including international dates finally being announced. Where as of today the dates span all the way to November 2024.

Throughout the tour, enthusiastic fans have been showing off their Eras Tour outfits and showcasing the friendship bracelets they made, all in eager anticipation of trading them during the upcoming shows. Swifties have also made predictions of what surprise songs they might hear during each performance.  Another thing Swift is known for is giving “ easter eggs”  that hint at what she might unveil next, be it a new music video or an entire album. Every night on the tour she plays two surprise songs that were not on the set list, giving every night a unique experience. Some fortunate fans hit the jackpot when Taylor Swift debuts a brand-new music video during the show

However, the most memorable surprises aren’t limited to music videos alone. On select occasions, Swift has dropped major bombshells during her performances, announcing the re-recorded versions of her albums. She has done this twice so far with “Speak Now” and “1989”. Leaving only two more re-records to go, her self-titled debut and “Reputation”. As a result, fans are left to wonder when and how Swift will make these announcements, meticulously dissecting her music videos and social media posts for any hidden clues or hints. The anticipation among Swifties continues to build, making each show a thrilling guessing game of what surprises the talented artist has up her sleeve.

Do you think in the future Ticket Master will be more prepared for possible large ticket demand? What do you think would be a solution to dealing with demands as large as those for the Eras Tour could be? Which re-record do you think is next? “Reputation”? Or her self-titled debut?  What leaves you thinking that? Is there any other artist you think could drive this large of a demand for tickets if a tour was announced?

I would love to hear from you!
